Creative Crimsonstreak

II Crimsonstreak by Matt Adams

* Spoilers are highlighted like so :)
* Read via the publisher for review

5 out of 5 gnomes

A stupendous speedy sequel. This book really delves into some great world building. You find out even more about the whole multiverse and how Crimsonstreak’s world works.

This book lets you see the consequences of the previous book with the whole world trying to pretty much put itself back together after Chaos’s reign. Crimsonstreak has to get used to being a part of a family again and working together with everyone.

The fun in this book is really brought about by the use of exploring more of the multiverses. The reader gets to see pretty much all of the possibilities out there with some scary and comical results.

Plus a super huge fantastic spoiler: MORTY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

There’s also even more seriousness mixed in with the humor of this story. More than one threat is out there and Crimsonstreak might be the only one that can win this race. I once again liked how crazy all the super powers are and the bad guys that are out there.

Then there's the ending, wow I cannot believe that this is the way that the book ended. I really can't wait to see where the next book goes.

Top 5 Sundays - Favorite Christmas Movies!

My mom loves this movie so we watch it every year and one of the TV stations plays it for 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve so I've seen this movie a lot.

This is such a fun movie and the songs are so catchy.

A funny version of a story that everybody knows, you can’t ever go wrong with Muppets. :)

I love this reindeer and pretty much every character in this special.

I like this movie’s take on the Santa mythology.

Weekend Read - II Crimsonstreak

II Crimsonstreak is a great sequel so far. I love Crimsonstreak's attitude and all the characters both heroic and villainous that you meet. This one gets more into multiple universes so the craziness has intensified.

Question of the Day - Do you prefer going out during the holidays or staying home?

I like staying home for most of the day then going to a movie in the afternoon/evening (a tradition that we started the last couple of years.) I like to go for calm instead of hectic holidays. :)

Radical Research

Alien Research by Gini Koch

* Provided by the publisher for review
* Spoilers are highlighted like so :)

5 out of 5 gnomes

Now this is what I was expecting to happen in the last book. You definitely see the backlash from the whole reveal of aliens being real. There’s a lot of action and things are really going crazy.

Kitty continues to improve as an ambassador along with still being able to kick plenty of butt. Her solutions are creative and like Ace says Kitty thinks right.

The tension is extremely high and it really helps move the mastermind plot along. I am really wondering who the mastermind is and have a bad feeling that it might be somebody really close to the group. (not that I can guess who yet but it seems like it’ll go that way.)

Kitty’s recruitment powers continue to be awesome, I love when she finds somebody else to add to the team.

Jamie's character continues to be interesting and makes me worry about the future of her character. The developments at the end of this book show just how important Jamie is to the future.

Whoa there was a lot of death in this book, be prepared to cry more than once. I wasn't prepared for who did die. I did not foresee these deaths at all. The fate of more than one character is really sad.

Things I Adored:

* Getting to meet the Operations Team/AC Elves.
* Finding out more about the poofs.
* The fact that ACE is BACK!!!!!!!!!

Question of the Day - Have you finished your holiday shopping yet?

I am very happy that I finished my holiday shopping today because I'm usually a giant procrastinator out shopping on Christmas Eve. Now I just have to wrap all the presents which is a whole other kind of mess (I usually just staple bags closed when I give people gifts.)  :)

My Favorite Quotes/Lines - Alien Research

Alien Research by Gini Koch

* book received from the publisher for review.

“Gosh, I hope you’re really on our side, because I like you already.”

“Back to where you started. You know, at the awesome level.”

“You are just like the Q. I’d never liked the Q, because they were pompous, capricious, all-powerful jerks.”

“It’s a shot in the sandstorm, but when all you’ve got available is the crazy, then the crazy is the shot worth taking.”

“One smart, inquisitive, brave, non-linear-thinking, cute little ape.”

“And while necessity is indeed the mother of invention, I’ve always found panic to be the father of abil-ity. And it’s good to honor both father and mother.”

My Favorite Quote - Man Made Boy

Man Made Boy by Jon Skovron

* Read via the Shelf Awareness Pro Newsletter

“Don’t throw your attitude at me like you’re some kind of spe-cial suffering martyr. I’m sure you’ve been through some crazy shit, but that doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole. I’ve seen my fair share of shit, too.”

"Waiting On" Wednesday - Infinite

"Waiting On"  Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on...

Infinite by Jodi Meadows

* Book will be released January 28, 2014

Check out the description from Barnes & Noble:

"The stunning conclusion to the Incarnate trilogy, a fantasy series about a girl who is the first new soul born into a society where everyone else has been reborn hundreds of times.
Ana knows that soon life in Heart will be at risk so she escapes with her friends, seeking answers and allies to stop Janan's ascension and keep the other Newsouls safe. But only she knows the true cost of reincarnation and the dangers she'll encounter if she returns to stop him once and for all."

The finale of this book is shaping up to be extremely intense especially after the revelations from the last book. I can't wait to see what happens to Ana, Sam, and the whole society of Heart.

Marvelously Made

Man Made Boy by Jon Skovron

* Read via the Shelf Awareness Pro Newsletter

5 out of 5 gnomes

This story is insane but in a really good way. It turns out that a lot of the old school monsters are real and a large group of them all live in one place (under a theater in Times Square.) They put on a show most nights and many of them haven’t been out of the theater in years because they can’t blend in with humans.

The story is told by Boy the son of Frankenstein’s Monster and The Bride. He’s grown up around the show and at the beginning of the book has never even been outside. Boy is a hacker and really knows his way around computers he has a project that will change the world, if only he can finish it.

His parents unlike some YA are in the picture and a big part of his world. He sees what they’ve been doing all these years and starts to question how they all live. They have an intriguing background of course and are kind of looked down at the show because they are more science versus magic based.

There are plenty of scary times and an epic road trip once Boy is out in the real world. This book has Boy in some rather complicated relationships. Love isn't exactly easy for him to find but it is fun to read about.

There are complications aplenty and the plot goes in plenty of unexpected directions. This mix of horror and humor works tremendously well. I especially love the end of the book.

“I’M NOT SURE how they expected me to react to the news that in six months, I would be shipped off to Switzerland to live with the humans whose ancestor was responsible for making my family the hideous, screwed-up monsters we were.”

“AS SOON AS I heard the theater door close behind me, I pan-icked.”

“BUT AFTER A few weeks, Liel got sick of sitting around inside all day.”
